Our goal is to provide financial education, goal setting, motivation and the moxie to succeed in the investment world, as well as examine the features of the various investment vehicles that might make a particular investment just right for you, the investor.

Juniper Tree Investments is divided into 8 investment related topics. Each topic has been the subject of books, so, no doubt, we will not answer all questions. In addition to the informative topics, we offer to our members the ability to e-mail us with particular questions and receive a direct reply. Further, we will use our news letter to provide answers to general interest questions for the benefit of all of our subscribers. Please note that we do not address questions about buying or selling individual stocks or bonds.

Presenting financial material to an audience with a varying understanding of these topics is extremely difficult. To help address this problem we have attempted to provide an easy access and return glossary to define most of the terms with which you may not be familiar, our open line of communication with our subscribers will, we hope guide us to providing more material where needed and more clarity when needed.

Where to start your learning adventure with us can be a difficult decision. When beginning a dialog with a new client, we often ask a question. Do you know the difference between a stock and a bond?

  • If you don’t know for sure, start your reading under the INVESTMENT Basics topic and work through all 4 chapters. Then go to planning and work through it.
  • If you have a basic to good knowledge of investing, go to our topic titled PERSONAL Planning. This site will help you establish where you are now and where you will need to be. It also brings into focus all the documents that you should have completed already. Completing the personal planning form is arduous and need not be finished now, but at least review it and take action on the critical issues. Do not fail to finish planning.
  • If you start with PLANNING please go back and read about the Basics as soon as you have done all you should have under Planning.
  • Then work your way through all the other topics starting with Insurances and Asset Protection.

In creating our glossary we found that resource sites often failed to provide a definition of some very basic terms. Instead, they assume their readers have a strong beginning knowledge. We have attempted to add overlooked and/or under defined terms to our glossary. If you are stumped on the meaning of a term we use and it is not clearly defined, please e-mail us and we will add it to our glossary.

Part of the problem in putting together a clear and comprehensive investment advisory is that every topic discussed is in some way interrelated with all the others. So the question becomes how to find the right way to present material. Each topic is discussed as a separate subject so the reader can most easily understand how it works. Throughout each topic we reference where to find additional material that relates directly to the subject at hand.

The topic of Taxes is not meant to be a lesson on how to complete a tax form. It is however, included to remind you what you should watch out for, how to deal with an audit, and when estate taxes are an issue. It also contains tips from a former IRS agent who has spent years auditing 1040s, 1120s, 1065s, trusts, and managing Estate Tax Attorneys.

The information on Social Security is not meant to be a lesson. Instead, it describes how Social Security works in general, and when you should begin drawing, and how when you draw effects taxes and the size of the payout from Social Security. This section also helps you learn the ramifications and risks of penalties. Succinctly, this is a how-to-do-it section on how to get the most out of the system.

In our newsletters we will discuss a focus topic each quarter, beginning with our views on investing. Many topics of general interest will be covered and you guidance will be appreciated. Hype and spin are real concerns to us, Helping you see and recognize hype and spin as such is one of our primary goals.

The topic sites will be updated as needed due to changes in the law, questions you ask of us, and as the investment climate changes.

Most business sites on the web that are accessible for free are actually promoting a product. We, on the other hand, do not promote any particular investment. Further, we spend hours reviewing news letters and other resources to bring you current and objective information. It is a full-time job for us; it is a terrific resource to you as an investor and planner of your own future.

We are here to offer an education in subjects not ordinarily available in a school setting. Adding to the basics described above, our mission is to provide insight into the many nuances accompanying our complex financial world. We are accessible by e-mail for you to ask clarifying questions.
